A universal binary beta version can be downloaded here:

Please let me know how it works (just answer this post)!

Thanks,
Tjark

I was disappointed to find that version 1.0 didn't work on my MacBook Pro. I just tried the beta, though, and it worked great. Thanks!

I came to the site to donate and ask for a Universal version (see? donating for nothing Wink just to cheer you up), and a good deed is always fruitful, as I spotted the universal beta link!
I also wanted to grab the source and see if I could figure out anything about compiling a universal version (yeah, I know, more of a job for a real developer, but the RDF made me think it was easy*!...)

So far, so good, no real bug that I could spot, smooth scanning and display.
And eventually, I can delete directly in the program (move to trash) and not have to wait for the treemap to draw again. Yeah!

Here, iMac Intel 2GHz 2GB Ram

Gotta think about donating though, because you made me stray off my good path!

(* Actually, it can BE easy, friends resonsible for award winning apps have told me their re-compile of their XCode project was quite straigthforward, all sticking points clearly identified and solved within a day)

Making a universal build was not that hard. DIX makes use of several other frameworks which had to be made universal first.
Most of the time the transition took was spent fiddling around with Xcode's settings Smile
But it was quite painless in the end.

Very Happy I was going to post my own reply, but grigri covers it already! One more up vote, then.

Thanks so much for creating this program and making it available. I was beginning to run out of space on my iMac Intel (250 GB hardrive) and also on my 500 GB external drive, and wanted to get a quick idea of just where all those byte were going. Now I know - downloading a few hours of High-Def video from my SONY camcorder will eat up the Gigs in a very big hurry.
Thanks. No bugs noted and a very nice looking program, indeed.
I look forward to seeing the good reviews in MacWorld and MacAddict soon.

Just tried my favorite disk manager (Disk Inventory X) on my new Santa Rosa MacBook Pro 17inch and it works nicely.
However, after doing a full HD scan I noticed my machine getting a bit sluggish and then opened up Activity Monitor.
Disk Inventory X was using 612MB. Is this normal?

Thanks for the great tool!
I've eagerly donated to the cause and hope others do the same.

Yes, DIX uses quite a huge amount of memory if a big drive is scanned. There is a need to optimize the code regarding memory consumption...

Best regards,
Tjark

Works just fine on a 2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo MacBook with 1 GB of memory. (I'm running OS X 10.4.10 if that helps!) Thanks! Tremendously useful app too. I can weed through all my large video files, and see which ones are taking up the most space, then delete the ones I don't want, and put the ones I do want on my external hard drive. (I'm amazed at how fast I filled up the 120 GB on my MacBook; now I'm waiting to fill up my 300 GB external hard drive.

Computer:
Macbook Pro OS X 10.4.11
2.2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
2GB 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM
80GB Hard Drive partition

During processing:
45-65% CPU used
450-600mb Real memory, about 900mb virtual memory
Takes between 1 and 2 minutes
I also get the rainbow spinning disc when closing the results window.

Fascinating program. I really like how you tell me what file the mouse hovers over. I can't believe Keynote and Pages are my two biggest applications!
